New Properties Committee Sub-committees

Our Council is privileged to have two great camps for our youth: Belk Scout Camp and Mecklenburg Scout Reservation. Both are in use every weekend of the year (except a few closed) and for Summer Camps. Since opening, both have depended heavily on volunteers to operate, build and maintain them. Our units over the years have performed numerous service projects, ranging from small maintenance projects to construction of whole buildings. Many units, individuals and businesses have contributed financially or with supplies. We would have little at either camp if not for this great support!

The Council Properties Committee oversees building and maintenance of both camps and The Council Service Center. In order to focus more attention on each property the committee will be forming 3 sub committees to work with each property.

These groups will be responsible for planning, organizing, managing

New construction and ongoing maintenance. Dick Carter (dickcarter@bellsouth.net) will lead the Council Service Center group. Staton Boyette (statonboyette@gmail.com) will lead the BSC group and Jim Miles – (jim9miles@aol.com ) will lead the MSR group.

Your help is needed!
Groups are being organized to work on each property. All are welcome to volunteer your talents. Some of the needs are:
Skilled trades people- electricians, carpenters, plumbers, HVAC, others
Project managers, maintenance planners, computer work
General labor, cleaners
Material/ supplies scroungers
Units are especially welcome.
You can just be on the call if needed list for occasionally needed items-(such as locksmith- glass repair)
You can volunteer building/maintenance supplies- or be on call list for if needed

We want to build on the great past our volunteers have provided and have even better camps for the youth of today and tomorrow. If you would like to assist, contact one of the group leaders listed above.
